Home made C-frame is very useful. Although picture shows rivet gun, many AD5 rivets are set with mallet.

The only part that is required is a rivet set holder from cleavelandtool

1/2 inch O1 drill rod.  I did use a lathe to shape the 0.401 rivet gun.  I also use a torch and hardened the ends.

The problem with the cleavelandtool rivet set is that eventually the 3/16 pin breaks off in the hole.  There is no way to remove it.  I made my own by annealing old rivet sets, cutting to length and drilling a hole straight thru.  After the hole is drilled I hardened and tempered.hru. If you are making a fuselage, you have a acetylene torch.  If you have a torch you can make what ever you want out of junk.

Step 1 heat hardened steel until glowing then bury in vermiculite.

Step 2 Machine anything you want from annealed steel.

Step3 heat what ever needs to be hardened, and quench in transmission oil.

Step 4 The hardened steel is polished, and a small flame is used to draw out the color indicated the temper of the part.
